TENTS 'N TANKS: CATALINA Glamping weekend

Earn your PADI scuba certification while enjoying an unforgettable glamping weekend on Catalina Island! After completing the online eLearning module and two pool training sessions, you'll finish with four open-water ocean dives in the island's crystal-clear waters. In between dives, relax in luxury at your fully set-up glamping site, complete with chef-prepared meals, hot showers, and breathtaking views. This one-of-a-kind experience combines adventure, comfort, and learning, turning your certification journey into an exciting island escape.

  • 2 night, 3 day weekend adventure 

  • Overnight camping permits for Friday and Saturday night

  • Full glamping setup, ready for you upon arrival:

    • Air mattress, fresh sheets, pillows and blankets, individual tent unless (doubles for couples available upon request)

    • Bathrooms and hot showers on site

    • Campsite at trailhead of scenic Catalina hikes

    • Chef-prepared meals from the day of arrival until Sunday. Includes Friday night dinner, 3 meals Saturday and brunch Sunday

    • Light assortment of wine, alcohol provided during dinners

    • Guided hike on Friday before dinner

    • Bonfire and s'mores 

  • Diving

    • Continued “classroom” time to finish educational portion

    • 4 Open Water Dives to complete certification

    • All Gear:

      • Personal scuba/snorkel rental gear (mask, fins, snorkel, booties, hood and gloves, provided by Land & Sea)

      • Tanks and weights for the open water dives provided onsite in Catalina

      • You will pick up your wetsuit, BCD, regulator and computer at Ocean Enterprises in San Diego to bring with you on the weekend (don't worry about this for the pool - we got you!)

  • 1 night out on the town in Catalina 

  • Ample free time to shop, rest, recharge, explore

Travel info

We use Catalina Express and Catalina Flyer - both have many schedule options giving students the flexibility to go to the Island as early on Friday and stay as late as desired on Sunday 

Please plan to arrive to Catalina no later than 9PM on Friday

Let us know your arrival time so we can pick you up and take you to the campsite!

The Catalina Express offers daily ferry service from Long Beach, San Pedro, and Dana Point. The Long Beach/Avalon trip takes about one hour. The Dana Point/Avalon trip takes about 1.5 hours.

The Catalina Flyer offers round-trip service from Newport Beach. The trip takes about 75 minutes.

  • Total investment for the Catalina Destination Certification Experience: $1,899

    • $500 non-refundable deposit to lock in class and online learning course (good for 1 year to complete)

  • Our weekends are all about a relaxed, flexible pace—there’s no need to follow a strict schedule. We adjust the timing of activities based on the group's vibe, whether it's when we wake up, start the dives, or enjoy extended free time. Everything moves at the rhythm the group prefers, blending excitement with laid-back moments.

south of the border: Coronado islands day trip

Complete your PADI scuba certification with an exhilarating boat day trip to the Coronado Islands, 8 miles off the coast of Baja! After finishing your online eLearning module and pool training sessions, you'll dive into three open-water dives at the islands' vibrant dive sites, known for its epic sea lion encounters and warmer, clear blue waters. All gear is provided, and you'll enjoy snacks and beverages on board during the 9-hour trip. To wrap up your certification, students will schedule one local shore dive, making this a thrilling and comprehensive journey to becoming a certified diver.

  • Boat ticket for 9 hour day trip out of San Diego with our partner, Waterhorse Charters

  • Mexican tourist pass

  • Snacks, beverages on boat (can bring alcohol beverages for post-diving)

  • Students will schedule one local shore dive to complete their certification requirements

why choose the coronado islands?

Coronado Islands diving packs most of what San Diego scuba diving offers, plus more:

  • Sea lion diving: encounters are 99.9% guaranteed

  • Clear water: visibility here is up to 40 ft better than coastal San Diego

  • Warm(er) water: usually a few degrees higher than coastal San Diego

  • Shallow sites: welcoming and entertaining to all levels

  • Coronado Islands diving require that you have a valid passport or passport card, regardless of its issuing country. Immigrants must hold their valid visas or residency permits, as if traveling by plane.

  • Optional: bring any alcoholic beverages you want for post-diving
